Event Details

On February 14, 2012, Chowgirls presents "Locavore Love Affair," a local and organic Valentine's dinner. The intimate dining experience of only 15 sweetheart tables in a unique gallery setting costs $75 per person. Early lovebirds can steal a deal at $60 per person by reserving between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. With only 37 seatings available, reservation deadline is February 14. Each meal comes with a complimentary glass of wine, bottle of local beer, or hand-crafted cocktail.

The five-course menu will feature artisan cheeses from Shepherd's Way; free-range meats from Pastures A Plenty and Callister Farms; and other local ingredients including Bossy Acres microgreens, Ames Farm honey, Hope Creamery butter.

Nitty gritty details: Tax is included in ticket price, gratuity is not. Full bar available.

"The dishes were seasonal, the ingredients carefully sourced, and the overall experience a delight."
Simple, Good & Tasty, review of Locavore Love Affair 2011

MENU
Course 1: Cheese: Hidden Falls Canapé
A savory red wine biscuit topped with Shepherd’s Way cow-and-sheep’s cream Brie, our house-made dried cherry marmalade and a spiced ginger pecan

Course 2: Soup: Sunchoke Bisque
This simple puree highlights the tangy tone of the native sunflower root, grown by our friends at Harmony Valley Farms in southwestern Wisconsin

Course 3: Salad: Citrus & Greens
Microgreens, grown by Bossy Acres in south Minneapolis, topped with peak of season oranges, toasted almonds, and an Ames Farm honey-tarragon vinaigrette

Course 4: Entrée Choices
All entrees accompanied with Kabocha squash, grown in the bluff country of Rushford, Minnesota by Featherstone Farms, roasted and finished with Sapsucker Farms maple syrup, sauteed apple and walnuts

 Porketta
A favorite on the Iron Range, this classic Italian pork roast is coated in a spice crust of fennel, anise, and paprika. Pork sourced from Pastures A Plenty, a family farm in Kerkhoven, MN

Lemon Rosemary Chicken
Free-range chicken raised by Callister Farm in West Concord, Minnesota, infused with citrus and herb flavors and grilled with crispy skin

Eggplant Torte
Shepherd’s Way Friesago, a semi-hard sheep’s-milk cheese crafted in Nerstrand, Minnesota, is showcased with grilled eggplant and ricotta

Course 5: Dessert: Cheesecake
Choose from Chocolate Decadance or Classic New York. Both flavors are handcrafted with love by our friend Tami Cabrera at Muddy Paws Cheesecake. Served with a smear of locally produced artisan preserves by Heidi Skoog of Serious Jam

Coffee & Tea
Organic and Fair-Trade varieties from Equal Exchange
